LONDON, UK. December 29, 2025. Reed Learning, a leading professional training company, has been chosen as the main partner for a major new government program. Working with International Workplace, Reed Learning will deliver free occupational health training to 5,000 managers at small and medium sized businesses in England.

Funded with £800,000 from the Department for Work and Pensions, the program is a key part of the UK’s efforts to address economic inactivity and support the “Keep Britain Working“ goal. It aims to help the 2.8 million people currently on long term sick leave by training managers to better support their team’s health and wellbeing at work.

Support for Smaller Businesses
The training will run from January through March 2026. It is designed for smaller companies that may not have a dedicated human resources department. The course content, developed by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health, will cover essential skills for managers including how to spot early signs of physical or mental health issues, how to have supportive conversations about health, how to make practical workplace adjustments, and how to access professional occupational health services.

This training is about helping people stay in work and helping businesses succeed.”

Program Schedule
The training is voluntary and completely free for eligible small and medium sized businesses.

• Preliminary registration is open now until December 31, 2025 on the official campaign website.

• Full registration opens on January 2, 2026.

• Training sessions will be held across the country in the first three months of 2026.

Research shows that 79% of small businesses that used similar training found it very effective in preventing employee health issues. This new partnership will extend these valuable resources to 5,000 more managers.
